Outpatient Psychiatric Services

Medication Management for Mental Health

Personalized, evidence-based psychiatric care for veterans and civilians with the close clinical oversight you deserve.

About the Service

What is medication management?

Medication management is an ongoing partnership between you and a licensed psychiatric provider. At Valor, our advanced practice providers conduct thorough evaluations, prescribe medications when clinically appropriate, and monitor your response over time, adjusting dosages and addressing side effects to help you reach your goals.

This service goes beyond writing a prescription. It includes education about your medications, coordination with your broader care team, and regular check-ins to ensure your treatment plan continues to work for you.

Conditions We Treat

Psychiatric conditions we can help with

Our providers are experienced in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, with particular expertise in the complex presentations common among veterans.

Depression & Mood Disorders
PTSD
Anxiety Disorders
Bipolar Disorder
OCD
Insomnia & Sleep Disorders
Adjustment Disorders
Trauma-Related Conditions

Medications we do not prescribe

To ensure the safest and most appropriate care for all patients, Valor Health Solutions does not prescribe the following:

  • Benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, Ativan)
  • Stimulant medications for ADHD or related conditions (e.g., Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvanse)

If you currently take these medications, we encourage you to speak with our team. We can discuss alternative treatment approaches and coordinate with your current providers.

Your Experience

What to expect

1

Initial evaluation

Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. Your provider will review your history, symptoms, goals, and any prior medications to develop a full clinical picture.

2

Collaborative treatment planning

Together, you and your provider will discuss treatment options, including whether medication is appropriate, which agents make sense, and how they fit alongside any therapy or other services.

3

Ongoing monitoring & follow-up

Medication management is not a one-time appointment. Your provider will schedule regular follow-up visits to assess your response, make adjustments, and ensure you are progressing toward your goals.

4

Coordinated care

We communicate with your primary care provider, VA care team, and any therapists involved in your care to ensure everyone is aligned on your treatment plan.

Coverage & Billing

Billed through your commercial insurance

We believe cost should not be a barrier to mental health care. Valor Health Solutions bills medication management services directly through commercial insurance plans so you can focus on treatment, not paperwork.
